On the Gold Coast, Australia, Summer has put its hooves in the ground early. Many of us Gold Coasters are already getting into what we know best: the water and our bikini's! Which has inspired this post.
The amount of bikini styles out there is both endless and overwhelming. So, I have provided you with a list of both common and trending style bikini tops for when you decide to buy your next Summer Bikini. Keep in mind that bikini brands don't all use the same style name as each other and that designs are usually crossed over, think underwire and bandeau.

Bandeau Bikini Top
A single strip of material that stripes horizontally across your body. To avoid looking like you have a mono-boob, try a style that has underwire and boning on the sides or built in cups. This will also provide a little more support. A misconception is that this style doesn’t have straps, however they are often just detachable.
Triangle Bikini Top
The style that is likely to never leave us. The timeless and classic triangle bikini top usually has small triangles that run along string and are easily adjustable. However, the triangles can also be fixed to a band, but the ties are always adjustable. If you don’t require much bust support, then this style is an essential piece to own in your swim collection
Underwire Bikini Top
This style is generally sized by cups and provides support. So it’s perfect for girls who have a little more filling. The style is intended to push the bust in an upward and outward direction (creating a gap between the gals). The style can also be suitable for smaller busts (think balconette styles).

Sport Bikini Top
As with all of these, the name explains the style, the sport top is no different. Resembling similar support to our loved sports crop tops, this style is out to provide support and provides a sporty appearance. Sports top are intended to keep you feeling secure while you're being active. Brands like Speedo usually always offer this kind of style and Roxy under their sports section.

Bralette Bikini Top
A very cute and feminine style that takes the concept of lingerie and introduces it with swimwear. Still often triangle in shape, however is on a fixed band and has no cups or wires. Some styles do have padding. The main difference with the bralette bikini top to a triangle bikini is that it offers slightly more coverage and on a fixed band.

High Neck Bikini Top
I swear when Baywatch **drool Zac Efron tryout scene** came out with Alexandra Daddario/Summer in her high-neck bikini top was when I started noticing this style appear everywhere, although it has died down a bit. A stylish, crop that generally provides maximum support formed by the coverage and crossover back. This style crosses over with the sports style, in some cases. However, fashion high neck bikini tops are very much a thing.

Halter Neck Bikini Top
Traditionally, they are long, wide triangles. In the modern age the actual coverage part comes in many different styles to just triangles (in-fact, I don't even know if you find halter triangle bikini tops around anymore). It’s a fit that is secured behind the neck and provides more support than your classic triangle. You will often see high neck designs classed together with halters.
Tankini Bikini Top
Similar to a tank top. It’s provides the modesty of a one-piece, but allowing the option to alternate bottoms. The tanking world is expanding in designs and you can even find peplum and one shoulder styles. These are a great option for tummy control
The Hues Black Delacroix Tankini Top
from ArteSands is a great slimming option
A fairly new entrant into the bikini field is the crop. This style somewhat resembles a cropped singlet or mini fashion crop top. Often fitted with moulded cups for shaping purposes. Many of these styles come in a square neckline. An easy style that could be worn as part of an everyday outfit

Other tips for buying bikini Tops:
If you have a small bust and want to appear like you have a bit more somethin’ somethin’, try a style that has ‘drama’ directly on the bust - frills, embellishments, contrast detailing etc. Of course, any padded options are a great choice too
For support, your best options are to wear styles that have underwire and come in cup sizes, rather than S, M, L or 6, 8, 10 etc. Styles that crossover at the back are usually more comfortable and supportive too.
Hiding an ISO tummy?
Pick a top or one piece that offers both a deep neckline and has ruching that sweeps from the side over the stomach. Make sure the bra part has good support and you choose the right size overall. Black is best for slimming
Avoid strapless styles (including bandeaus without detachable straps). Halter styles help draw attention away from the shoulders and towards the face. On the other hand, styles that form a v-neckline or have wide straps should also do the trick.
